OUR STORY

Extraordinary Ordinary Creations is the work of a keen photographer (often accompanied by a hairy dog), who is based on the South Coast of NSW, Australia.

After being reminded that there is ‘extraordinary’ in the ordinariness of each day (if we remember to look and really see), she started to step out of her door, eyes wide open, looking for inspiration in all things, from the smallest of details to the wide open skies.

A little more about our story:

Hi :) I’m Sarah. I grew up on the South Coast of Australia. I spend a lot of time wandering about in nature with my camera and my hairy dog, Wallace. My love of being in nature has always been part of my story. I learn’t to surf at a young age. Through surfing, I fell instantly in love with the feeling of being set free by the motion of the sea. I think surfing was the beginning of an endless and evolving love for connecting to nature that has constantly ‘given’ to me. I’m not sure if I can speak for Wallace entirely, but in his own way, he tells me he is as devoted to being in the depths of nature as I am.

Photography came later in our story. Learning photography and taking photos has allowed me to pay closer attention to the details in our beautiful world. Over the years, I’ve developed healthy obsessions with photographing the stars, storms, sunrises, sunsets, landscapes, the ocean, rainforests, waterfalls and wildlife.

Wallace insists on accompanying me on all my photography adventures. Sometimes he gets tangled up in the tripod or accidentally puts his face in an ants nest and we miss the perfect shot,  and other times he sits right by me, keeping a protective look out, particularly when we’re out shooting the night sky.

I believe there has always been something extraordinary living in the heart of the ordinary, that sometimes, the details and the small moments aren't so small at all. My time is spent trying to pay attention, capture and share this belief with anyone who would like to see my pictures and read my posts.

I think it’s worth mentioning that I’m also a devoted admirer of the written word, music, movies, TV shows, books and the arts. Being moved by wonderful stories and music are also healthy obsessions of mine. I love writing and my photos have become an inspirational source for developing my own writing style.

Wallace and I are currently spending time pursuing and expanding on our extraordinary ordinary project. We have series of space greeting cards that we created and are continuing to work on. We are planning to begin a blog and focus on diving deeper into the writing arena.

My hope is that our creations, which are dedicated to appreciating the extraordinary ordinary, might inspire and speak to the hearts of other people too.

Thank you for stopping by to read a bit about our story.
